Or “Some of the Best Rooms of 2008” also known as “A Random Selection of Rooms I Liked This Year.” I did go back though my files and pulled a selection of rooms that made my pulse quicken over the last twelve months. Once I had them in one spot I realized most were from December and, shamefully, January. I considered disqualifying January, but, well, it’s my list and I received the magazines in 2008 so they remain. My filing system is abysmal, so I don’t mean to suggest that these are not fabulous rooms, I’m just saying it’s likely there was something great from February to September and perhaps I over looked it. Enough qualifying – here goes.

It was a very good year.
Some great choices Patricia! I especially love Madeline Weinrib’s bedroom and Kate Spades wonderful abode.
What an amazing collection! My favorite is Kate Spade’s room (of course that is nothing new for me).
my vote: Oscar’s – I just love everything he touches.
The red accents seem to all be calling my name. A little pop of red certainly would be nice during the holidays – valentine’s day too.
All great rooms – for different reasons!

I love them all! Great job, Patricia, in your selections! I have to say, that Oscar and Annette’s is my favorite. Each one is beautiful in it’s own way…..What inspiration for 2009! Now, if my pocketbook would just cooperate!
Happy New YEAR!!
I prefer Joseph Montebello/Ron Leal. It’s airy, charming, and looks perfect for a gathering.
Wonderful choices! Oscar yes yes and also M Bastian!

Clever idea! I am working on my Jan 2009 ‘Dream Home’ again, and I am sure it will have some new images. However, I am way too lazy to scan the best of 2008, and appreciate that you have provided some wonderful up to date images for us.
Gretchen Bellinger and the last image are my ideal setup: library cum dining room. And great examples of how different that concept looks in different hands — but both appear comfortable and personal.
Patricia — so many of my favorites are on your list. The Gambrel house is just one of the all-time best. His combined with Redd’s work in both Elle Decor and domino was such a treat. And of course Annette and Oscar — always a wow!
I love the Weinrib bedroom. It has an ethnic vibe going that is so earthy.
I love the yellow wallpaper with the blue and white accessories. It’s making me want to change all of my colors.
Have you noticed that most of the rooms feature a round table!?
All of these are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!
Happy New Year!
I think I’m in agreeance with you on all of these!
Love the one from World of Interiors and also wondering why we haven’t met before? Anyway Happy new Year and glad to be here now!
Ah….the memories! It was a great year for design….yes. 🙂
Happy New Year Patricia!!!
I do wonder if Oscar and Annette need a new friend?? One who likes to visit now and then.
Oscar & Annette get my vote.
Thanks for sharing your ever interesting clipping file.
Wishing you a wonderful 2009!

Dearest Mrs. Blandings–
Our heart just did a little happy flip-flop, seeing the magnificent news (on the Hovey Herald) that you and HHH are House Beautiful denizens!
Ah, how brilliant they were to pick you. Cheers, a round of applause, and an encore! Glorious news for a glorious new year!
Bravo!
Victoria – I learned about it the same way! I mean, obviously, I knew it might be happening, but have not seen it yet. Thanks so much for your well wishes.
i love Marco Scarani and Jamie Creel’s Paris apartment. it is so inviting and cozy !
it is such a good post , thanks
xx renee
God I love that Miles Redd room…as well as Gambrel & Connor. Guess I must be having a color moment. Gorgeous blog by the way, I'm just getting into it and am complete heaven.
The Miles Redd room isn’t his own. Just a thing he did for domino.
Anon – thanks ever so much – I’ve changed it.
